Moncada Energy Group, a leader in green power production, sponsored the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) park in Oryahovo, Bulgaria. The park includes 25,776 thin-film modules and has an installed peak power of 10+6 megawatts (MWp). Funding for the project was found using a project finance scheme, and the client brought in our team as an independent technical advisor.
Our work broke down into three phases. In the first phase, we reviewed technical documents and evaluated the expected production and financial model. We also reviewed environmental and social documents to make sure they complied with national law and the Equator Principles, a financial institution risk-management framework.
The second phase of work involved construction monitoring over three months and supervising the tests for temporary acceptance certification. Finally, the third phase of work involved our services as we monitored the plant operation for the first few years, verifying yearly performance and maintenance. This included supervising the test for final acceptance certification at the end of the first year of operations.
With this Oryahovo solar park successfully in place, additional environmentally-friendly power boosts the Bulgarian national grid. And? The whole community benefits with fewer CO2 emissions and pollutants.
