As demand for electric vehicles grows, global supply chains increasingly require more graphite, a critical mineral used in lithium-ion batteries. NextSource Materials Inc. wanted to build a new battery anode facility in Abu Dhabi to support the technologies shaping the future of energy and mobility. They reached out to our team to serve as the lead design consultant.
We are providing design and cost studies as well as architecture, engineering, building services, permitting, and project management. A key focus of early planning efforts centers around flexibility, efficient use of an existing industrial building, and capacity for future expansion.
Development will take place in phases, allowing the operation to scale over time and adapt as technologies and markets need to evolve. Once complete, the facility will produce purified flake graphite, spherical purified graphite, and coated spherical graphite to meet rising demand, processing up to 30,000 tons of graphite per year at full capacity.
