Douglas Pharmaceuticals New Product Development Pilot Plant Expansion

This three-story new pilot plant houses laboratories, manufacturing, research, and administrative facilities. The plant supports Douglas Pharmaceuticals in the development of new pharmaceutical products. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire protection, and laboratory gas design services in different spaces and functions across the new plant.

The facility required the design of specialized systems. One was a cytotoxic waste drainage system, which works in parallel to the general wastewater system. Also air handling units with desiccant dehumidifying wheels were required to service manufacturing rooms, which require extremely low relative humidity levels.

Designs needed to adhere to multiple national and international standards and respect strict pressure and environmental requirements such as temperature, humidity, and air quality. Using Revit models, our team fully coordinated with client user groups, including manufacturing, laboratory, and facilities personnel, to fully determine the project’s complex needs and complete work in accordance with professional standards. With the new build connecting to existing facilities, which remained operational during construction, close communication and collaboration remained crucial to prevent daily activities from being impacted.

The expansion supports Douglas Pharmaceuticals’ commitment to research, manufacture, and distribute life-changing products worldwide.
