Hutt City Council Resurfacing and Pavement Treatment

Surrounded by the lushly forested steep slopes of Hutt Valley’s hillsides, Lower Hutt is a modern city that spreads out across the flat land of the lower Hutt Valley. With only four main roads leading into and out of the city, one of the jobs of Hutt City Council is to be vigilant with road maintenance, especially when it comes to maintaining the city’s road infrastructure. They looked to us to pave the way. We engaged in the annual site identification, investigation, design, and monitoring of the resurfacing treatments—chipseals, resurfacing, and pavement rehabilitation including the vital Wainuiomata Hill Road.

Striving to maintain the current standards of the road network in Lower Hutt, our team provides technical advice to the design of safe road surfaces with good texture, skid resistance, shape, and riding quality—everything drivers appreciate for a smooth driving experience. Existing poor subgrades and constrained sites proved to be challenging, but we successfully designed our pavements within the constraints of site access and within the permitted road closure periods. Throughout the resurfacing process, Hutt City Council identified significant infrastructure improvements and cyclical renewal projects to preserve public facilities and amenities, and to promote urban development.

Our approach helps the resurfacing project stay on-time and on-budget with minimal traffic disruptions.
