As A7 New Town continued to grow, the City of Taoyuan needed wastewater infrastructure that could support development while protecting the Nankan River and advancing water reuse. The Wenqing Water Resource Recovery Center was designed to meet these needs while enhancing the surrounding community.
We served as project management consultant and construction supervisor, coordinating delivery among the owner, design-build contractor, architects, ecological consultants, and construction teams. Our team provided quality assurance, schedule control, construction oversight, and coordination to help achieve project goals within a compact urban site.
To reduce impacts on nearby residents, all treatment facilities were located underground, creating space above for a publicly accessible park. The facility combines anaerobic-oxic (AO) biological treatment and membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology to produce high-quality effluent that meets reclaimed water standards. Rainwater retention systems, permeable paving, green building strategies, and smart technologies further improve environmental performance, while reclaimed water supports facility cleaning, toilet flushing, and landscape irrigation.
Inspired by the continuous cycle of resource recovery, the park features walking trails, lawns, public art, water elements, and gathering spaces that promote recreation and environmental education. The award-winning project demonstrates how essential water infrastructure can strengthen urban resilience while creating long-term value for local communities.
