Arkansas Bend Park Improvements

With excellent swimming, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and boating opportunities, Arkansas Bend is a peaceful park on the north shore of Lake Travis. Created as a capital improvement project in the 2011 bond election, the park offers a glimpse of all that Lake Travis has to offer—but this wasn’t always the case. Before the renovation in 2019, the area had fallen into disrepair, with damaged tree roots and bare, basic amenities.

As prime consultant of the Arkansas Bend Park master plan, our team worked closely with Travis County to lead and coordinate two phases of renovation and improvement. While adding amenities throughout the park, both phases also focus on the overall restoration of disturbed land to natural conditions. Our team also led significant stakeholder and community engagement efforts with over 30 representatives involved.

The existing beach shoreline was renovated with the addition of two boat ramps for public access—one with a courtesy dock and an American Disabilities Act ramp for accessibility. New trails were added throughout the park, with grassy, shaded areas set up for picnicking, and two new RV campgrounds offer a total of 32 campsites with facilities.

With the work now complete, Arkansas Bend Park is now a destination for the community to get outside and enjoy what nature has to offer.
