Bayonne Cogeneration Expansion Plant Expansion Study

The Bayonne Cogeneration Plant is a nominal 170 MW gas fired 3 X 1 combined cycle cogeneration plant originally builit in 1988. Stantec assisted in the evaluation and design development of an expansion project.

Stantec’s initial study evaluated the installation of two options: a combined cycle power plant utilizing a GE Frame 6B CTG or a simple cycle plant utilizing a GE LM6000 CTG with SCR.

This study involved the development of capital cost estimates and layouts for each alternative. The result of this study led to the decision to install the simple cycle plant. To support the plant permitting efforts for the simple cycle plant, Stantec provide the following engineering and design services: development of general arrangement drawings, conceptual foundation review, development of piping and electrical tie-in details, and electrical engineering in support of electrical interconnection with PJM specificaiton of major equipment including a gas compressor and a selective catalytic reduction system.
