Renewable fuels project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance soil health, and foster rural economic development jobs
Bluegrass Renewable Fuels LLC, a 3 Rivers Energy Partners company, wanted to construct a new anaerobic digester and biogas upgrade plant adjacent to the Beam Suntory Booker Noe Distillery in Boston, Kentucky. They engaged our engineering team to help and provide building engineering services.
We worked with suppliers and contractors of anaerobic digesters and biogas, upgrading equipment and systems to support the Bluegrass Renewable Fuels in their efforts. This included the identification of suppliers and constructors, pre-bid assessments of vendors, performance specifications, coordination and evaluation of bids, and engineering review of submittals from the selected supplier.
The digesters will take in spent grain from the distillery, which microorganisms will then break down to produce biogas and natural fertilizer for the surrounding farmland. The biogas will then go through the gas upgrading plant to be refined into usable renewable natural gas (RNG).
The facility will enhance soil health, create rural economic development opportunities, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65 percent annually.
