An eight-phase project completed six weeks ahead of schedule
As part of the BMC Clinical Campus ReDesign Program, Boston Medical Center (BMC) wanted to expand their pediatric inpatient beds and their OB/GYN clinic exam and ultrasound rooms. They selected our Project Management team for the job.
This eight-phased project involved the complex renovation of existing outpatient spaces into a 22-bed pediatric med/surg bed unit, a new four-bed pediatric ICU unit, and substantial renovation of existing OB/GYN outpatient clinic to accommodate the inpatient units. The project involved the demolition of an interstitial mechanical floor and relocation of all the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. Pull planning with key trades was done to deliver the 11-month project six weeks ahead of schedule, which was critical to meeting the client’s needs to relocate these key patient services from a building they were selling.
Our team served as the liaison between the design and construction teams, the hospital facility and management personnel, and the hospital staff in communicating phasing and impact of ongoing planned construction activities, monitoring construction, Department of Public Health approvals, schedule progress, equipment coordination, and regulatory assistance.
