Boston Logan International Airport eGSE Charging Station Implementation
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has committed to convert from fossil fuel powered to electric ground service equipment (eGSE) at Boston Logan International Airport. They reached out to our team to help achieve this goal.
We began by undertaking and completing an Airside Masterplan Study report to begin phased design and installation of eGSE charging stations throughout Logan Airport. Since then, we’ve participated in three separate projects to provide design and construction oversight for the installation of approximately 100 charging stations and 200 charging ports at Terminals A, B, C, and E as well as several airside maintenance hangars and at the general aviation fixed base operators Ramp.
Our team has also assisted Massport with leveraging federal sustainability funds, including the Voluntary Airport Low Emissions (VALE) Program and Volkswagen Mitigation Grants. Design and construction involved close coordination with Massport and airport users for installation locations, phased construction, and compliance with grant requirements.
Through these efforts, Massport is helping Boston Logan to operate more sustainably for years to come.
