Utilizing natural features and new opportunities for a growing community

In 2007, Bridgeport developed its first master plan and made a commitment to updating it every five years to ensure the city could provide a vibrant lifestyle for its community. When it came time to revisit it in 2021, we were there to help.

We worked with the City of Bridgeport to develop an updated parks and recreation master plan that improves the overall quality of life for Bridgeport residents. With significant participation from the community, we conducted multiple public engagement events to determine the community's needs and wants. This included listening sessions, focus group meetings, community pop-up events, an in-person survey, and an online survey to gather input and feedback from the community. Following this, we analyzed the data for the standards assessment, created master plan concepts for the revitalization of five existing parks, and researched and analyzed the economic development opportunities associated with the revenue-generating parks as well as a proposed sports complex that would attract player and fan spending. We also identified local, state, and national funding along with municipal funding strategies to assist with implementation of the proposed improvements.

Our unanimously approved master plan combined the projected population trends, potential impacts of various factors on future growth, and standard and demand assessments analysis to help the City of Bridgeport implement these strategies in the next 10 years and beyond.
