Assisting the Town of Stratford in developing functional and aesthetic roadway improvements for the Broad Street corridor
The project will be funded under the STP-Urban program and entails designing improvements to West Broad Street between its intersection with Linden Avenue and California Street/ Knowlton Street. The project will include reconstructing and widening the pavement to incorporate additional lanes, traffic light installations, drainage improvements, curbing, and landscape architectural treatments.
The project is intended to improve traffic circulation at this busy intersection with Interstate 95. The project scope includes evaluation of the driveway entrances and exits for the commercial establishments around the project area to simplify and improve traffic flow. Additionally, the project includes a new traffic signal at the I-95 off ramp and reconfiguration of its intersection with Linden Avenue. The project will improve drainage underneath the Metro-North Railroad viaduct, solving long-term flooding problems in that area.
The work requires permitting with the Inland Wetland Watercourses Commission and will be performed in accordance with Connecticut Department of Transportation standards and procedures.
