California DGS Statewide Charging Infrastructure Deployment and Assessment

To support the state’s growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, the California Department of General Services (DGS) established a program to enhance statewide EV readiness through a strategic and scalable approach to infrastructure development. In particular, the program focuses on the deployment of Level 2 and Level 3 electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) across state-owned facilities. DGS engaged our team through a multi-year on-call agreement to deliver comprehensive engineering, design, and construction support services for this effort.

Our role involved due diligence site assessments, construction documentation development, permitting and construction support at State-owned properties. To date, this has resulted in over 150 detailed site assessments across 124 facilities in Northern California. These due diligence evaluations informed the development of construction drawing packages and Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) submittals, supporting compliance with regulatory standards and accessibility requirements. Our specialists also coordinated with utility providers to facilitate necessary service upgrades, enabling seamless integration of EVSE into existing electrical systems.

The resulting framework and installed infrastructure support California’s clean transportation goals and implementation of a robust and future-ready EV infrastructure.
