California High Speed Rail Merced to Madera Design Services

The California High Speed Rail (HSR) system will eventually encompass more than 800 miles (1,287 kilometres) of rail with up to 24 stations from the San Francisco Bay area to San Diego. Our job? Design services as well as coordination for approximately 33.9 miles (54.6 kilometres) of high-speed rail corridor within the city and county of Merced and the county of Madera.

The project includes preparing the documentation for the staged project delivery configuration footprint as well as survey, infrastructure design, lighting, landscaping, and traffic services. We coordinated and designed the right of way, track geometry, roadway alignment, foundations, walls, and pavement features, and we conducted a floodplain assessment to inform our drainage, hydraulics, and hydrology services. The team also contributed permitting and other management services.

When complete, this high-speed rail section will help connect communities from Merced to Madera.
