Children's Hospital of Philadelphia - PICU Renovation and Expansion

The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a multidisciplinary unit that provides care for infants, children, and adolescents who become critically ill or injured. When CHOP needed to expand their PICU capabilities, they turned to us to help with the expansion and renovation.

We provided architecture, interior design, and building engineering services for this project that included renovation of an existing 15-bed medical/surgical unit on the seventh floor of the Main Building to accommodate the expansion of the adjacent 10-bed PICU. Along with the addition of 14 PICU beds, the unit includes new administrative areas, a clean supply room, a family lounge, a simulation room, medication rooms, a nourishment area, equipment storage, and a reception/nurses station.

CHOP will use the renewed PICU in their ongoing efforts to serve the community and help to improve survival, speed recovery, minimize disability, and relieve pain and suffering in a caring and respectful manner for their patients.
