Reclaiming downtown as the cultural heart of the community
When the City of Mineral Wells created Envision Mineral Wells as an overall vision for its future, one of the main recommendations included reclaiming the downtown as the community’s cultural hub. We were hired to develop a plan for this downtown revitalization and help the area reach its full economic potential.
As part of the plan, our team designed conceptual and schematic designs for a central park and plaza in the downtown area. In addition to the park and plaza design, we created an overall land use and complete streets concept, prioritizing planned implementation of the projects based on identified funding sources and ensuring this plan doesn’t just sit on a shelf. By developing the entire plan in 3D, our team enabled innovative plan elements, such as virtual reality tours, 360 views, and QR codes, to be used as economic development tools—further helping the City of Mineral Wells sell the vision and entice economic development.
Once implemented, the park’s striking open space with passive and active gathering places will support community events and provide a unique identity to the City’s downtown.
