City of St. Petersburg Grants Program Management Support

Over the years, the City of St. Petersburg Public Works Administration (PWA) has expanded their capital improvement funding sources to include grants. To add efficiency, consistency, and maintain compliance with grant requirements, PWA identified a need for a grants manager and centralized grants management program. Based on our relationship as PWA’s long-term partner providing technical and financial consulting services, they asked us to serve as their agency-wide program manager for grant funding, focusing on water and wastewater, stormwater, and resilience opportunities.

We set out to help PWA define their organizational processes for the grant lifecycle, from application to implementation, based on City policies and best practices. Acting on PWA’s vision, we standardized grant management resources, such as project review forms and compliance spreadsheets, and integrated these tools with an overall grant tracker.

The integrated workflows and tools have given PWA administrators and leadership better visibility into financial resources, legislative approvals, and potential issues between project delivery and grant requirements. We continue to support PWA with ongoing grant management and compliance efforts, including managing compliance for various Florida grants.
