Cooper University Hospital - MD Anderson Cancer Center

Cooper University Hospital was building something new. The MD Anderson Cancer Center was the product of a partnership to deliver integrated approaches in a convenient outpatient setting. But, when the building was well into design, word came down that costs needed to be reduced by $20 million. That’s when our project management team stepped in.

Working alongside the design team, we led Cooper’s executive committee through the decision-making process. Our challenge? We couldn’t sacrifice the majority of clinical program elements. The solution was to replace a complicated underground parking structure with a valet parking service. Within just a few months, the budget and construction were back on track.

During construction, Cooper’s partner, the world-renowned MD Anderson, brought new operational standards, efficiency metrics, and protocols. We oversaw the necessary redesign to accommodate operational flow and upgraded technical requirements for the outpatient lab and pharmacy. These modifications are critical—they allow leading edge trials and patient delivery enhancements.

And with our help, these late-stage changes didn’t delay the schedule or increase the budget.
