This project included high-value operational improvements like high-capacity elevators and aircraft auto-docking guidance systems

Existing terminal buildings at the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport were approximately 40 years old. They embarked on a Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP) to modernize Terminals A, B, and E as well as introduce new terminal connectors between Terminals A and C and Terminals B and D.

Stantec provided program construction management, commissioning management services, and directly oversaw the quality assurance aspects on each TRIP project. We worked with the airport board’s commissioning authority, airport design code and construction representatives, the TRIP executive management team, and the airport’s energy, transportation, and asset management representatives. TRIP renovated the terminals and replaced electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security, conveyance, telecommunications, lighting, fire protection, and IT systems. It also included various high value operational and efficiency improvements. All systems were designed and constructed to meet new building and energy codes along with DFW sustainability initiatives.

The initial Terminal renovations started in 2011 and all construction phases were completed in 2018. New facilities also included a new terminal stinger with 10 aircraft gates at Terminal B and new multi-level parking garage facilities at Terminals A and E.
