Edgerton Recreation Center Aquatic Facilities and Playground Improvements

This versatile park and community center have been serving the Rochester community for more than a century. In order to keep the center as a vital part of the neighborhood, enhancements were needed to allow the center to grow and continue to provide social, cultural and recreational programs.

That’s where we came in. Our team provided planning, design and construction services for several site improvements to appeal to all ages. Among those are a new play apparatus, water play area, Bocci court and outdoor game area. The outdoor game was designed from a repurposed driveway area that had been designated for removal. A colored asphaltic material typically used for tennis courts was applied to resurface the existing driveway and delineate the area for games. This practice has since become standard for other city parks.

The community, young and old, has embraced the new facilities and the center has now become a successful gathering space for the neighborhood. Many families visit the park to picnic, cool off in the spray area, and play. The space has allowed neighbors to get to know one another, which has created a sense of community pride and enhanced safety in the area.
