ExxonMobil Houston Campus – Commissioning Services
Looking to develop a new 385-acre (156-hectare) campus for their employees, ExxonMobil engaged our team to provide LEED fundamental and enhanced commissioning services.
For this project, maintaining commissioning progress was essential for the successful delivery of the campus, which included 23 buildings under simultaneous construction with two general contractors and multiple trade contractors. To keep the process on track, project teams relied on ongoing commissioning meetings and our cloud-based commissioning software platform. This approach enabled real-time monitoring and communication between ExxonMobil, the contractors, the design team, and the commissioning team, providing seamless collaboration.
The building systems were designed to enhance energy efficiency through high-performance equipment and advanced control strategies. The building automation system (BAS) optimizes energy use while maintaining occupant comfort and system reliability. We led multiple controls coordination meetings to help clarify the engineering sequence of operations to verify that the BAS controls aligned with the functional test parameters and design intent. This collaborative effort enhanced testing quality and streamlined the turnover to operations.
Now complete, the state-of-the-art campus accommodates approximately 10,000 employees and includes 14 office buildings, a multi-story laboratory, a 20,000-ton central plant, a wellness center, and an energy center. It also has three parking garages, a computing facility, and a childcare development center.
