Creating a foundation for resilient and sustainable infrastructure with mature asset management practices

Fairfax County MSMD - Institute of Asset Management Certificate Training

Fairfax County's Maintenance and Stormwater Management Division (MSMD) is strengthening their asset management program to support the long-term sustainability and resilience of their infrastructure. To support these efforts, the County partnered with us to deliver Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Certificate training and the associated exam.

As IAM endorsed trainers and sponsors, our team provided MSMD personnel with comprehensive instruction across the five core IAM modules, featuring real-world examples and practical exercises. After completing the training, participants took the IAM Certificate in Asset Management Exam to demonstrate their understanding.

Successfully completing this internationally recognized program, aligned with ISO 55000 standards, reflects Fairfax County's commitment to continuous improvement, proactive stewardship, and building a resilient infrastructure system. According to Karlee Copeland, assistant division director for the Maintenance and Stormwater Management Division, the County is using this, "shared language and understanding of asset management [to lay] the foundation for a more resilient and accountable organization."
