    Farmers Branch, Texas

Supporting the city’s efforts to advance its environmental, economic, and social progress

Farmers Branch, like many inner-ring suburbs, faces a variety of challenges in continuing to grow and thrive in the competitive Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. As it reaches the limits on available land that can be developed, the success of the city depends on calculated land redevelopment, preservation of the unique character, and repurposing existing infrastructure to meet new needs. We are currently developing an updated comprehensive plan to guide future long-term development and redevelopment efforts.

Our engagement efforts include a robust combination of online and in person participation opportunities during each project phase. The plan includes an emphasis on closing housing gaps and developing ways to increase equity in housing—the goal is to create opportunities for those who work in the city to be able to also afford to live there. In addition, our team will outline new complete street strategies to improve mobility for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians while increasing safety.

Upon completion, our comprehensive plan will enable the City to pivot towards future growth that will be increasingly dependent on redeveloping older underutilized properties and repurposing existing infrastructure. It will provide the policy basis and strategic direction for regulatory changes through zoning and thoroughfare amendments, as well as infrastructure capital planning initiatives.

As planners, it’s our responsibility to engage with traditionally underrepresented voices and create processes that elevate everyone.

Joel Mann , Principal

The excitement of cities drew me to planning; seeing how much that excitement relies on streets built for people drew me to transportation.

Ami Parikh, Transportation Planner

Mobility means helping people get where they need to go in an efficient way and I want to shape this effort with the larger context in mind.

Erin Perdu, Senior Urban Planner

The highest compliment I can receive is that a person sees themselves in a plan. Plans truly belong to the residents and not the planners.
