Our client—a Florida electric utility company—strives to provide their customers with the most reliable service. To deliver on that promise, they’re planning to spend the next 20 years working on a number of services: distribution hardening, relocations, maintenance, system expansion, reliability, and revenue projects. The contract came to us.
The scope of work for each project will include coordination, determination of requirements, pre-design, field data collection, permitting, engineering, structural analyses, construction drawings, and construction support. We’ll be working on multiple projects from single-pole replacements to large underground feeder extensions that span several miles.
After identifying the worst-performing laterals and converting all overheard wire to underground, the client expects to reduce outages to customers—particularly after a catastrophic event, like a hurricane. For the next two decades Stantec will assist this utility company in its efforts to strengthen their electric infrastructure and keep the community powered up.
