Glendale Beeline Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility

The City of Glendale wanted its first-ever co-located administrative, maintenance, and operations facility—the Beeline Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility—to better support its current fleet of 37 buses and nine demand-response vehicles. We provided architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and lighting design—all designed to exceed the CalGreen energy code.

Going beyond simply designing the various components of a transit maintenance facility, our design team sought innovative approaches to make the facility sustainable while allowing for future transit growth. Our contemporary design uses sustainable, high-quality, durable materials. Exterior sun shading contributes to occupant comfort, energy performance, and helps mitigate noise. Other sustainable features include indoor air quality and day-lighting, and the potential for on-site solar energy production, heat island reduction, and light pollution reductions. When it comes to conserving water, rainwater management, water use reduction, and water metering have a role to play in the site’s sustainability.

Pushing the limits of innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability, we designed the facility to be a good neighbor to the surrounding community and to meet the needs of people who use it.
