Gold Coast Transit Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility

Serving Ventura County, the Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) wanted to invest in the future by replacing an outdated and deteriorating bus garage that was originally built in the 1970s. We worked with the client to design a modern facility that meets all California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) requirements.

The new green facility allows GCTD to maintain a fleet of up to 125 buses and is comprised of an administration and operations building, an eight-bay maintenance and repair building, a compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel station, and bus wash. Environmentally sensitive construction includes energy efficient lighting, low-flow water fixtures, and day-lighting for office areas and bus maintenance bays. The building is also positioned and designed in such a way to take advantage of the sun and wind, helping to decrease lighting, heating, and air conditioning costs.

As an investment in a sustainable future, this new facility goes a long way to serve both the community and the workers that support a modern transit fleet.
