Creating an award-winning space within the Golisano Children’s Hospital

Our team was contracted by the University of Rochester (UR) to provide fundamental and enhanced commissioning services for the 62,000 square foot four and sixth floor fit out and renovation at the Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Our task? To bring to life six state-of-the-art operating rooms, 23 recovery rooms, a dedicated pediatric catheterization laboratory, a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), a pediatric-friendly waiting space for family and friends, as well as support spaces throughout both floors. Systems and equipment that our team commissioned included air handlings units, variable air volume, fire protection, space pressurization monitors, grounding, lighting controls, domestic hot water, medical gases and more. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the commissioning team, the project was completed in a timely manner to accommodate patient need and hospital scheduling.

Stantec received the Building Commissioning Association’s 2018 Commissioning Project of the Year Award in the New Construction/Renovation Category for our team’s dedicated efforts to ensure the UR’s requirements were met throughout the duration of the project. Now complete, this project provides much needed capability and capacity to the hospital itself and the area’s pediatric offerings.
