Designing a 50,000-square-foot expansion to serve as an anchor at Gwynedd Mercy University

Gwynedd Mercy University, a private Catholic institution located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, chose us to design an academic building for its Schools of Business and Education. The new 50,000-square-foot building is located in the heart of the campus, serving as an anchor to the academic entry and completing the main pedestrian spine through the quad.

The facility includes smart classrooms, seminar rooms, a student lounge, breakout rooms, a 60-seat tiered classroom, and a 120-seat auditorium. The auditorium, tiered classroom, and seminar rooms are equipped to access instantaneous market data, and real-time tickers in the student areas surround learners with important financial information.

Our design supports 21st century teaching methods and inspires ingenuity among students, faculty, and members of the business community. It keeps them connected with the financial sphere and immersed in active education. Flexibility of the spaces supports formal and informal collaboration.
