Harold L. Martin Sr. Engineering Research and Innovation Complex (ERIC)

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, recognized as the nation’s top institution for awarding undergraduate engineering degrees to African Americans, envisioned a next-generation hub for discovery, collaboration, and impact. They reached out to our team to design the Harold L. Martin Sr. Engineering Research and Innovation Complex, or ERIC.

Our design for the four-story, glass-paneled landmark redefines interdisciplinary learning with adaptable classrooms, experiential studios, and purpose-driven research suites specializing in cybersecurity and network systems, energy and sustainability, and health applications. ERIC’s forward-looking design integrates the Facility for Intelligent Robotics, Sensing, and Telepresence (FIRST) the Reality Emulation and Augmentation Laboratory (REAL) featuring an advanced vehicle-in-the-loop driving simulator, and a 3D holographic design studio. Together, these elements create immersive environments for students to engage in product development, digital twinning, medical diagnostics, and collaboration.

ERIC is a hot spot for innovation and hands-on education. Faculty, personnel, and students form industry partnerships and apply speed-to-market principles with new projects, prototypes, and job opportunities that uplift the community.
