In 2008, we helped create an acadedmic hi-rise to revive the Harrisburg area. Today, we’re proud to continue that mission
Just a few years ago, Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) enrolled about 900 students. Now, total credit-seeking enrollment is over 6,000 students from 103 countries, filling up the University’s first tower. The University’s mission? To build a capable workforce in the region and to provide high-quality space for their growing enrollment.
After meeting with local stakeholders, HU heard serious concerns about healthcare professional shortages and the need to expand capabilities in areas of advanced manufacturing and digital media. Based on this feedback, HU committed to creating the Health Science Building, a second mixed-use tower on the urban campus.
The new 17-story mixed-use facility will feature a wide variety of academic learning spaces and labs as well as public meeting areas, a restaurant, and hotel all of which connect the institution to the city at the street level.
Our architectural, interior, and engineering design services in the new building focus on health science classrooms and simulation laboratories, which support the University’s nursing, pharmaceutical sciences, and other allied health programs. Additionally, the building will offer areas devoted to the growing fields of advanced manufacturing, digital media, and eSports.
After the completion of HU’s first academic tower, a major component of the City and University’s revival plans, HU has continued to grow and gain momentum. Their second tower is a visible commitment to their continued focus on transforming higher education while helping to revive Harrisburg and the surrounding region.
