An integral step in the journey to rejuvenate the downtown urban core of Summerville
The Town of Summerville, South Carolina, had a Vision Plan, and key to that vision was Hutchinson Square Park. Located in the heart of Summerville’s central business district, this park is planned as an integral step in the journey to revitalize and rejuvenate the downtown urban core. So, when the Town of Summerville needed a master plan, they turned to us.
We helped create a list of programmatic elements that were presented to the public: online and at workshops. After that, we handled visualization, landscape architecture, and traffic and utility planning services. The plan also included protection for the existing grand live oaks.
Through analysis and public involvement, our team finalized a master plan for Hutchinson Square Park that addressed citizen concerns and suggestions. It included improved circulation and accessibility, increased safety, open green space for events, and public art. The plan, once implemented, will create a signature gateway for downtown Summerville.
