During peak commuting times, Interstate 275 (I-275) experienced significant of traffic congestion. To alleviate this, the Florida Department of Transportation engaged our team to help with rebuilding and widening this busy downtown corridor, from State Road 60 to the Hillsborough River.
We provided construction engineering and inspection for roadway and bridge reconstruction as well as construction administration, pre-construction design review, monitoring and inspection of materials, drainage, lighting, and signalization. Our design also included intelligent transportation systems to help mitigate congestion during roadside incidents.
Today, I-275 has four through-lanes in each direction and improved interchanges to help efficiently move traffic on and off I-275. The new corridor has a flatter profile that improves sight distance and decreases risk of accidents as well as a wide median to reduce impact of future improvements.
