Improving area connections with new and updated interchanges

I-90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway) & IL 23 Interchange

Illinois Tollway wanted to construct a new interchange along I-90 at IL 23 and update approximately one mile of IL 23 to improve access to the northwestern Chicago suburbs. They needed a trusted partner with who could manage the complexities of the project and coordinate with multiple utilities and local authorities having jurisdiction. Enter our team to provide contract administration and Phase III construction engineering services through construction and close-out.

The reconstruction of IL 23 included four new ramps and three new roundabout intersections. Part of IL 23 also received a lane increase, from two to four, with a divided median and three unmanned tollway plazas. The project included lighting and detention ponds and pipe culverts for compensatory stormwater storage. Our services included on-site construction inspection and observation, survey control layout and verification, material testing and reporting, erosion control inspections, completing traffic control inspection reports, and job finalization and closeout.

Now users of I-90 and IL 23 can more easily reach their destinations, especially in McHenry County with their first connection to the interstate.
