KY 536 Interchange Reconstruction at I-75

In 25 years, the KY 536’s interchange with I-75 will be twice as busy as it is today. Today, the interchange sees about 25,000 vehicles per day (vpd), but by 2035 it could see 57,000. To make it safer and more efficient, Stantec is designing a Double Crossover Diamond (DCD) interchange. This interchange type is unique because it crosses traffic to the left side of the road to allow free flowing movement onto I-75.

Because we designed Kentucky’s first operational DCD, we knew exactly how to design this project. To better explain the concept to drivers, we created the KYTC’s first roadway design video game, which shows players turn-by-turn how to navigate the DCD interchange. We’re also employing access management principles to over a dozen nearby entrances to make traveling through this corridor even safer. By the time we’re done, drivers in Northern Kentucky will have an interchange that gets them where they’re going faster and safer than it does today.
