The design of Division 14 represents innovation, sustainability, functionality, and wellness.

Designed to exceed LA Metro’s sustainability, wellness and innovation goals, Division 14 enhances operations and maintenance, promotes employee wellness, and integrates seamlessly into the surrounding community.

Our design team worked closely with LA Metro to overcome site challenges and delivered a facility that goes well beyond the basic functionality requirements of a typical operations and maintenance facility. Passive strategies like harvesting daylight to reduce electrical demands and using the mild Southern California climate to help reduce mechanical demand were combined with innovative design strategies for water, energy use and ventilation. The result? The facility is LEED-NC Gold certified and is Net Zero Energy ready. Beyond that, the team worked closely with neighborhood stakeholders during the design process to ensure the facility was a good neighbor to the surrounding community.

Division 14 sets the standard for a new kind of transit facility design: functional, beautiful, sustainable, and mindful of the needs of the people who use it. It is ultimately a shining example of the power of a collaborative design team and a forward-thinking transit agency.
