Lake Worth Beach Utilities Capital Improvement Program Funding Strategy

Lake Worth Beach Utilities (LWB) needed more funds for their growing capital improvement projects. They turned to us, their long-term partner, for help in exploring funding options for their water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.

Using details from LWB’s existing capital improvement program, we developed a funding strategy to increase and combine grant opportunities. We created a software tool to identify all eligible funding sources and matched projects with competitive grants. We also stacked grants to fully support a project and packaged several projects together in one grant application, leading to more opportunities for funding.

Once the funding strategy was ready, we drafted two state grant applications and a funding request application for the 9th Avenue South Outfall Restoration Project. The funding request was successful, with $371,250 recommended and moving forward through the Florida Senate for 2025-2026. These funds will support LWB in implementing with outfall improvements, beach restoration, and solid waste receptacles.

By LWB developing a funding strategy for their capital improvement plan, their community will benefit from combined funding and more opportunities to improve the infrastructure of their water, sewer, and stormwater facilities.
