Lesotho Irrigated Horticulture Project - Advisory Services

The Government of Lesotho and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) have partnered on a $300 million compact to improve healthcare and boost the horticulture sector. A key component of this compact is the Market Driven Irrigated Horticulture Project, which focuses on investing in climate smart irrigation infrastructure and encouraging commercial farmers to collaborate with local small-holder farmers. MCC selected us as the lead technical advisor and independent engineering consultant for this project.

We’re providing a range of advisory services to help oversee compact development and implementation, from review of technical studies through construction monitoring. Our work relies on collaboration across multiple disciplines to support different elements of the project, including civil and hydrological engineering, integrated water resource management, value chain development, environmental and social risk mitigation, and regulatory reform.

These investments are helping Lesotho’s farmers pursue greater economic opportunities and transition from rainfed subsistence farming to higher value irrigated horticulture.
