Lillard Science Center Renovation and Addition

Lake Forest College needed to upgrade their existing Science Building and to consolidate multiple departments. They asked us to design an interdisciplinary facility that would consolidate the biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology departments, as well as the environmental studies and neuroscience programs.

But the design needed to be innovative. Something that could reflect their Johnson Science Center’s forward-thinking curriculum. With an addition and some renovations, Lake Forest College will get modern teaching and research labs and other interactive learning areas. The expanded capacity, with 21st century flexible teaching labs, will support the latest instruction and discussion-based inquiry.

The consolidated facility will encourage interdisciplinary research, exploration, and problem solving. With versatile, modern spaces, students can work in groups, form breakout sessions, or just interact.

Lake Forest College’s new, energy-efficient science facility will promote future discoveries while retaining and attracting a diverse student body.
