Löhr Center is in the heart of Koblenz near the confluence of the Rhein and Mossele Rivers, the B9 and B49 autobahns, and is just one stop away from the Koblenz Haubahnhof making it a true gateway to the city. A broad mix of retail tenants and strong connection to the Löhrstrasse pedestrian zone makes Löhr the go-to shopping destination within the city. But after more than three decades in operation, the Center needed a refresh—to elevate the shopping experience, and to attract premiere retail tenants.
The challenge for the design team was transform and enrich the shopping experience while remaining within the existing structure and volume. Drawing inspiration from the idea of gateway, the design evokes a feeling of warmth and hospitality with the use of jewel tones and bold environmental graphics together with statement lighting elements.
The existing main entrance, formerly uninviting and undistinguishable, greets the street prominently and is rebranded with graphic elements and color to draw patrons inside, create a welcoming and inviting experience. On the interior, color, soft and hard furniture as well as art installations orient visitors and mark key decision points throughout the Centre’s three levels. The result is a comfortable, warm, and welcoming environment for patrons to shop, dine, and socialize within that is fresh, modern, and unique to Koblenz.
