Consolidating Louisiana State University's educational programs to form a vibrant central hub

Established in 1968, the Louisiana State University’s (LSU) Earl K. Long Medical Center had one stated mission: to provide high-quality health care and medical education. When LSU decided to drive their mission more creatively, they partnered with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and our design team to improve care and education through a public/private partnership project. Their goal? Consolidate their education programs into one central hub.

Inside, the new medical education building serves a variety of functions: event space and sub-divisible classroom space, an innovation lab with simulated learning (supplemented with advisory conversations), office space, and research, study, and collaboration space. An outdoor teaching terrace offers an environment for respite and professional exchange in a natural environment.

The medical education building reinforces Louisiana State University’s dedication to the original mission—delivering high quality health care and medical education.
