Yielding optimal results from a strong, long-lasting relationship with the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center

Long-term client relationships based on trust and a shared vision can yield amazing outcomes. That was the case in our work on the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center (MBPCC)—a thorough renovation that was well-supported through our relationship with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC).

Located between a new glass patient tower, a busy street, and a parking garage, the MBPCC lacked a sense of place and stature on campus. With limited square footage, the team looked beyond the chassis of the building to enhance appeal and brand by supporting through-light and nature themes—featuring Louisiana-based indigenous materials.

With newly developed interior pathways, the MBPCC connects its patients to adjacent hospital amenities and services. Separated flows for foot traffic help improve patient and family experience, reduce too-long wait times, and preserve action space for staff.

This destination center provides the highest level of comprehensive cancer care and creates a new standard of excellence in the South Gulf area. With next-generation technology and expanded medical teams and advocacy services, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center offers vital resources in the presence of a spirit of healing.
