Mayo Clinic is the only center offering proton beam therapy in Minnesota and surrounding states. Since they first began offering the therapy in 2015, they have routinely approached the appointment capacity of 1,200 patients per year.
To meet growing demand for cancer treatment, Mayo Clinic embarked on a $200 million expansion to their proton beam therapy program. They reached out to our team to help.
Our design maintained the architectural identity of the original building while incorporating the vision for Mayo Clinic’s overall campus master plan. The expansion features two new treatment rooms and a full integration of the clinical functions associated with proton beam therapy. We also designed significant renovations to the existing structure, which included the creation of a single lobby and check-in desk to offer patients and their families a seamless experience.
Recently completed, the expanded center will allow clinicians to treat an additional 900 patients per year.
