In McKinney ISD’s new stadium project, the larger community finds new common ground to create stronger connections

The McKinney Independent School District (ISD) stadium serves multiple high schools by supporting athletic events as well as band competitions and concerts. The facility was envisioned to create a collegiate atmosphere with an intimate fan experience.

Our team was brought in to bring this vision to life as the architect of record. Our design of the main entry and two-story press box contributes to the collegiate image by featuring a traditional brick arcade infilled with modern perforated metal. This metal can be customized with colored lighting to give playing teams an identity on game night. The facility program creates a sense of enclosure with seating split into two sections to create a lower bowl embedded into the landscape. We introduced a continuous concourse for uninterrupted connection to the field that is anchored by a field house with state-of-the-art locker and training rooms. The concourse also features a child play area to entertain younger siblings, and a large community room with a full-service kitchen is located on the upper level of the field house.

This modern facility offers plenty of space for athletic events, community gatherings, and more. Inspiring a sense of McKinney pride, the stadium is also anticipated to energize the local economy.
