Mesa Transit Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility

In Arizona, the City of Mesa is growing quickly and that means transit has to expand their services to communities that rely on public transportation. To support future growth of transit, the City worked with us to program, master plan, and design the City Transit Maintenance Facility.

We designed a two-phase facility to accommodate a fleet of 100 buses in the initial phase, with a future expansion to 200 buses. This facility includes maintenance bays, parts storage, fare retrieval, bus washing, and administration facilities on a 22 acre site. Featuring an elegant front door at the entry, the administration and operations building functions as an appropriate display of civic pride and quality. Serving as a partner in design to the administration building, the maintenance building provides an anchor for the complex on the north side of the site.

With modern architectural styling that reflects the spirit of the desert Southwest, the entire campus of buildings is unified in materials and detailing—and is organized to provide operational efficiencies and safety for the maintenance personnel and public visitors.
