A vibrant home for Brody residents

Michigan State University wanted to develop a master plan for their entire Brody complex—a Future State Strategic Plan that would fully renovate their residential neighborhoods.

As the first step, we teamed with the University’s landscape department to develop the overall plan: creating a common language for all buildings, better integration between building interiors and the site, support for environmental initiatives, and a visible sense of welcoming and inclusion for all Brody residents.

Our next step was major renovations of four identical, four-story residence halls that each house over 430 students. We created learning and living environments, communal spaces, study areas, gaming centers, and fitness centers. We also worked on extensive mechanical, plumbing, and electrical system replacements and upgrades.

With these renovations, Michigan State University has created a variety of common spaces that’ll promote and support student interaction and programs and encourage resident retention from year to year.
