Middle Georgia - Robins Air Force Base Sustainability Plan

The Middle Georgia Regional Commission wanted to strengthen the relationship and communication among Robins Air Force Base and the nearby communities. They engaged us to study and develop a sustainability plan to support community growth and economic viability across the region, as well as preserve military operations and readiness.

To foster public engagement across the region, we worked with the Regional Commission and their 60-member governing Council to complete the plan. We conducted a compatibility analysis within a five-mile (eight-kilometre) radius beyond the boundary of the base. Our analysis focused on land use, transportation, airspace, infrastructure, security, economic and community impact, and environmental and cultural resources.

The resulting action-oriented implementation plan includes 74 recommended strategies and actions for both the military and local government stakeholders. By partnering together, they can promote compatible community development that supports continued military operations and strengthens relationships. The sustainability plan will foster positive impacts on quality of life, growth management, and enhanced infrastructure systems across the region for years to come.
