Miscela

Located in Somerville, Massachusetts, Miscela is a multifamily property that’s the latest addition to the Assembly Row development. The name Miscela is derived from the Italian word for mixture or blend, an apt name for a mixed-use building that features 500 apartments and plenty of ground floor restaurant and retail space.

We provided integrated architecture, interior design, and branding services for the property. Our cohesive vision centers around the concept of a "joyful assemblage." Transitioning between classical and modern aspects of the master plan, precast and brick facades embody the concept with layers of textures and colors—providing the building with a distinct appearance. A 20-story tower buffers a large, elevated resident courtyard from bustling retail space along the street.

Interior design and branding for the building work in tandem to create an unexpected, exuberant, and joyful experience. Our design impresses from every angle—from the entry’s striking lighting fixture to a private speakeasy, multiple cabin lounges, an indoor hanging fireplace and a 24th-floor lookout with a twinkling pergola and views of the Boston skyline. The brand identity and marketing campaign employ bespoke collages, artful shapes, and captivating photography that speak to the theme.
