Helping to create nature-focused moments

Mount Nittany Health is committed to its mission of ‘healthier people, stronger community’. Their new state-of-the-art patient tower answers this call, providing patients with award-winning care and transforming the patient and staff experience.

Our team provided architectural and interior design services to help bring the new tower to life. A previous master plan study identified only one viable option for location of the bed tower, in the middle of the healing garden that is so precious to patients and the care team. Creating the new tower amid the garden including ample views and access to outdoor spaces, became a guiding design principle. Our design, focused on sustainability and natural elements, provides patients with extensive care advances and healing spaces. We offset areas of the garden lost into the building by creating a dining terrace, rooftop staff garden, outdoor relaxation spaces, and a walking trail. Our design brings natural light into each patient room and captures views of nature.

Throughout the building, care was given to creating moments of respite for and to take advantage of the natural views. The result? Teams and patients now have a place to get the much-deserved relaxation time needed to recharge.
