Mount Pleasant Interconnection Environmental Support

The American Transmission Company (ATC) needed to construct a new transmission line to support the electrical load for a 20-million-square-foot manufacturing facility that was developed in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. To help determine potential environmental impacts and obtain local and federal permits required to move toward construction, ATC chose our team to provide the required environmental consulting services.

Working on a strict schedule, we conducted biological and cultural field services along dozens of miles of existing and proposed transmission rights-of-way and substation properties. We then developed routing and siting alternatives for the new transmission line. We also helped obtain several required US Army Corps of Engineers and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources permits ahead of schedule goals. During construction, we provided contractor environmental training and on-site environmental compliance inspection.

Communication played a key role in this project’s success, both in meeting the construction start date and daily coordination with agency, client, and contractor staff to keep the project moving forward.
