Northwell Health - Cohen Children’s Hospital Surgical & ICU Expansion

One of only two pediatric trauma facilities in the area, the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center provides a vital service for communities in the New Hyde, New York region. Each year, the families of more than 40,000 children rely on the Cohen for treatment. Ensuring those families had reliable access to care was a top priority for the hospital and our team.

Our project management team provided support services to the facilities department for the expansion of the hospital’s surgical and intensive care units. We also had to carefully coordinate a number of temporary office moves—including offices of hospital executives—during construction. Our flawless execution on this related project was crucial to the success of the overall project.

Now complete, the six-story, 115,000 square-foot (10,684 square-metre) facility doubles the size of Cohen’s emergency department to 30 beds and two trauma bays and expands the number of beds in its pediatric intensive care unit to 37. The new pavilion also contains shell space for pediatric operating rooms.
